Read All About It

Hi there! The Art and Language Club shop is run by me, Fran, a France-based British journalist and illustrator - full name for formals: Frances Marcellin.

After working in film in my twenties (I'm still a film fan and a BAFTA member) and then as a freelance journalist (bylines in titles such as New Scientist and The Telegraph), I returned to my childhood obsession of drawing. I'm now happily weaving illustration into my professional world.

The Art and Language Club was set up to as a way to teach local kids English and French while they draw. However, living in the French countryside, where pretty much no one speaks English, I didn't get enough sign ups to make it viable. So, I'll launch again later, but in the meantime I'm going to build up the store to share some of my work, such as such as the Endangered Animal series I'm illustrating.

With so much chaos and unfairness dominating the world, I want to create art that raises awareness for the marginalised and brings joy to those who engage with it. While also running my content business (pieceboutique.com) and being mum to four young kids I have loved coming home to art over the last couple of years. During this period of transformation and reinvention, I discovered art as a healer which has been one of my most valuable life lessons.

Thank you so much for being here. If you want to reach out to me directly, you can at: frances@francesmarcellin.com. If you want to learn more about me and what I'm up to, go to francesmarcellin.com or catch me on IG @franlovesillustration - see you there! :)
